Setup Guide
Welcome to Link2Mail! This setup guide will guide you through the minimal steps necessary in order to configure and install the product. You can also access this setup guide anytime from Link2Mail Help menu.
Preliminary Setup: Act! Web API Settings
Before we start, please make sure that you have already configured Act! Web API connection settings. It can be found under Act! Web API Settings main menu.
Organization Account Only: Grant Access
In general, only administrator can access any Link2Mail page. If you are using Link2Mail under organization account, please make sure that you are given an administrator role and have access to Link2Mail. You can review this through General Settings → Organizations from the main menu.
1. Create an API Key
From Link2Mail main application menu you can find the control panel page. Click [Generate Key] button under the API Key section to generate a new key.
2. Install Desktop Client Program
Click [Download] button under Getting Started section to download the accompanying client program, and install it on your Windows Server. This client program is required in order to perform the actual scan and recording.
Once installed, please copy Link2Mail API key you created from the previous step above and paste it into the desktop client program to connect it to your account.
3. General Link2Mail Settings
In this page you could set whether to attach recorded emails to Act! users, exclude any emails sent by addresses specified in the blacklisted domains, as well as enabling exclusion field.
4. Add Recording Configuration for Email Accounts
Return to the control panel, and click [Add] button to add recording configuration for an email account. Input Act! username and password, as well as email credentials which Link2Mail will connect to scan for its incoming/outgoing emails.
Additionally, you could also choose whether to record either incoming mails (inbox), outgoing mails (sent) or both.
Repeat this step for each email account you want to record as necessary. Please note that you need to have a sufficient number of valid subscriptions for every configuration added.
That's it! You will be able to modify any configurations through the web and Link2Mail desktop client program will pick up the new settings the next time it runs the scanning and recording process.
