Task Editor & Phase Editor

Task and Phase Editor opens up when you click on task or phase name either in the Task List or in the Schedule. It allows you to work with different aspects of a task, and it is divided into different tabs.

General Tab

General Tab includes settings for each task, important to filter your task to give you an understanding of progress of your project.

  • Task Title is the identifying element of each task and appears in almost all project views, reports, and overviews.
  • Start Date and End Date - are the beginning and end date as understood initially, and adjusted with more information. Start and end dates of underlying tasks dynamically set start and end date of a phase.
  • Priority is a field which will allow you to classify tasks as High, Medium, or Low priority. You will be able to filter the Task List for High priority, to ensure that you quickly address the most important needs. Priority Completion breakdown is included in Agile Project Management Overview, Client Project Management Overview, Construction Project Overview, Multi Project Management, Non-Profit Project Management, Risk Register Management.
Approaching Tasks lists in Overviews can be sorted by priority in Agile Project Management, Education Project Management, Event Project Management, IT Project Management, Jira Issues Management, Marketing Project Management, Research Project Management, and Scrum Project Management
  • Status
  • Cost
  • % Complete
  • Milestone
  • Color - This color will be displayed in Schedule/Gantt view
  • Required Task - this sets dependency between earlier task (and its completion) and the task being edited. Dependencies are visually displayed in the Schedule (Gantt chart)
  • Create Task in Act!

Some of these values can be edited by clicking the values in the Task List as well.

Description

Description allows you to type, cut and paste text from existing document.

Assignments

Assignments Tab allows you to assign a task to one or more participants. Participants can be internal (Act! users or Link2Project Workspace members) or external (contacts from your Act! database). If, in the Participants tab, you decide to share the project with them, they will be able to interact with the project based on the rules you set out for them. If you give them full permissions, both types of participants will be able to comment on tasks, change their status, or reschedule them, but external users' changes will be submitted into Link2Project Act! Queue, so that they can be approved by the Project Planner and recorded to Act! under Project Planner's credentials. Tasks can then be filtered by assignee. Team members participating in multiple projects are able to review approaching tasks assigned to them by going to Overview and selecting All Projects from the dropdown.
